Dog Barking All Night

Barking, barking, barking, barking
I lay awake at night in my bed
That dang dog just keeps on barking
I can’t believe this pain in my head

Barking, barking, barking, barking

It’s 3am and she’s sill yapping
Like a canine gangster rapping
What if a shot rang out in the night?
10 years in jail seems about right

I think about the carefree days of youth
Did our dang dog bark like this head case?
Is this karma for something uncouth?
A circular payback from a previous disgrace

What troubles this canine with the big voice?
Did his owner give him a choice?
Maybe they made him catch a frisbee
With a blue bandana around his neck like a digby

Maybe they dress him in colorful sweaters
He’s telling the world that he wants better
Maybe he barks because he’s ashamed
On his horrible owners he places the blame

Another night is shot all to hell
I’ll surely miss the opening bell
And fall asleep in the important sales meeting
The unemployment office I’ll be greeting

Barking, barking, barking, barking
I lay awake at night in my bed
That dang dog just keeps on barking
I can’t believe this pain in my head

Barking, barking, barking, barking
