3 Reasons Why the Tampa Bay Lightning Lost to the Washington Capitals in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs

Tampa Bay suffered a disappointing defeat to the Washington Capitals last night when they lost 4-0, giving Washington a Game 7 victory in a hard-fought Eastern finals battle. As the Capitals advance to the Cup finals, let’s reflect on three reasons the Lighting lost.

1. The  Lightning last won the Cup in the 2003-2004 season. The top hit single of 2003 what 50 Cent’s “In da Club.” The team was motivated back then the lively beat and celebratory lyrics like, “We gonna party like it’s your birthday
We gonna sip Bacardi like it’s your birthday.” The top hit single at the end of 2017 was Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” demotivated the team with low-energy lyrics like “And you come over and start up a conversation with just me,
And trust me I’ll give it a chance now.” Zzzzzzzzz.

2. During the 2004 playoffs, coach John Tortorella made the team his award winning lasagna before each game. Jon Cooper, the current coach, could only muster up some thin leek soup to offer players.

3.  Manon Rheaume played one period for the Lightning in the 90s, the only woman ever to play in an NHL game. Five times during the Capitals series, she offered to come out of the stands and help the team during difficult games. The team declined and look how it turned out.
