Cleveland Browns Name 16 New Head Coaches–One for Each Game in 2019
The Cleveland Browns are using a unique strategy in 2019, naming a new coach for each game. Depending on the score at halftime, the coach-of-the-day can be replaced for the second half.
“Rather than hire and fire coaches faster than President Trump goes through cabinet members, we’re hiring coaches for each individual game,” said team VP of Operations Cleve R. Town. “If they can perform like they say they can, then okay let’s see it. If you are behind at halftime, we’ll fire you and call in one of our replacement coaches for the second half.”
For years, the Browns have had the highest coach turnover in the NFL. “We finally saw that as a strength,” said Town. “I said in the team meeting, hey let’s get one coach for each game, and fire them at halftime if they are losing. (Team owner) Jimmy Haslam said great, let’s do it, and we implemented the plan before the week was out. And this was on a Thursday,” he chuckled.
