Fartgate Puts Stink on Dart Championship
At the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton, Dutch darts pro Wesley Harms called foul odor after he was defeated by Scotland’s Gary Anderson.
Harms said Anderson purposely farted a “fragrant smell” to throw off his game.
Garon Sedwick, president of the Excellent Darts Players Association responded, “We take all allegations of impropriety seriously and have launched a full investigation. No player can be allowed to alter the playing area to his or her advantage, especially during the championship.”
Harms pointed to the crowd watching the competition to make his point. “Look, they’ve all cleared out of the first five rows right round the dart-throwing area. Some went outside gasping and calling for emergency services,” he said. “It’s a clear violation.”
