International Association to Reduce Hockey Violence Endorses Marijuana Legalization
The International Association to Reduce Hockey Violence released a position statement today advocating for federal marijuana legalization. Dedicated to reducing hockey fights in professional hockey, the organization held a press conference in New York City to explain their advocacy.
“Hockey fights are increasing in leagues around the world,” said association President Neilsforson Onetokenski. “We believe legal marijuana in this country will help players calm down. Lots of hockey fights start because players are releasing pent-up anger from other sources: family, traffic, taxes and bad TV shows. Legal marijuana will increase their coping skills and Taco Bell expenditures.”
Marijuana is not legal at the federal level in the United States, although an increasing number of states are changing laws rapidly. “Federal approval of recreational marijuana will remove the final barrier,” said Onetokenski. “Now these players can enjoy relaxed play without the threat of getting their shirt pulled over their head while a fist smashes in their face. It is safer, saner and calmer.”
