Keeping LeBron James and Coco Gauff dry

07-27-24 update. At first they wouldn’t let me on the Team USA boat that floated down the Seine in the Opening Ceremonies last night for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. It was pouring rain so I offered to hold an umbrella over LeBron James so he could focus on his role of a flag-bearer along with Coco Gauff. The official turned to LeBron and he shrugged his shoulders so they hoisted me on board. We floated down the historic river past 124 grandstands and more than 300,000 fans.

“No rain can stop us!” LeBron kept shouting as the other athletes cheered. I didn’t think he was as tall as he is so I jumped on a chair to keep the umbrella above his head. From that height, Coco, the youngest flag bearer in all the Games, looked even smaller. “What about me?” she chided with a big smile. “I got you!” as I grabbed another umbrella from a pole-vaulter who was sound asleep on a bench with rain pitter-pattering off his head and opened it above her. “Looks like they had too much French wine!” Coco said. “Or not enough!” I said.
