Portland Family’s Amazon Echo Records Audio In Secret and Sends to Random Person

A Portland family’s Amazon Echo recorded their conversation without their knowledge and sent the audio to a random person in their list of contacts.

Wait, what?

“Oh, hi, this is Adam. We met last week at your our daughter’s soccer game. I don’t know if you remember. We exchanged contact information because I build decks and you were thinking about a new back deck. Anyway, I got an email with some audio recorded at your house.

“It was very clear, it said ‘This Adam schmuck quoted me a rough price for a new back deck. What a moron. No way on God’s green earth that I would pay that much for a lousy back deck. And his daughter sucks at soccer.’

“Then there was just a lot of laughter.

“I thought you should know your Amazon Echo appears to be sending recorded audio to people on your contact list.

“Oh, and, I hope your deck falls apart the day after the warranty expires.”
