Socrates holds up the line at Starbucks
“Good morning, sir. Welcome to Starbucks. What can I get started for you today?”
“Good question, my son. The decision is not a simple one.”
“Take your time, sir. We have a plenty of great options.”
“Yes, yes. And therein lies the problem. For too many options can lead to confusion and indecision.”
“I understand,” the barista said, nodding his head. “But we have a menu here that can help you decide.”
“Ah, the menu. A guide for the unenlightened. But even this list of options can be overwhelming.”
“May I recommend our seasonal latte? It’s a customer favorite.”
“Hmm…the seasonal latte. An interesting suggestion. But is it truly the best choice for me?”
“I can’t say for sure, sir. But many of our customers have enjoyed it.”
“I see…the opinions of others. But can I truly trust them? Or should I trust my own judgment?
“That’s entirely up to you, sir.”
“Yes, yes. The decision is mine alone,” Socrates said, smiling. “I shall have a seasonal latte, and I shall enjoy it.”
“Great choice, sir. That will be $7.50.”
“$7.50? Are you crazy? I came for a drink, not to get ripped off. I’ll give you $5.50, tops.”
