War dogs in Appalachia didn’t listen to Jimmy

Once again, here is another scam that urges me to repeat Jimmy Conway’s wisdom from “Goodfellas.”

Jimmy Conway : [Johnny bought an expensive pink Cadillac coupe for his wife after the Lufthansa Heist] Johnny, are you nuts? We got a million bulls out there. Everybody’s watching us and you get a car?

Johnny Roastbeef : It’s under my mother’s name. It’s a wedding gift.

Jimmy Conway : I don’t give a fudge whose name it’s on! Are you stupid or what? Did you hear what I said? Don’t buy anything, don’t get anything! Nothing big. Didn’t you hear what I said? What’s the matter with you?

Do scammers listen? Of course not.

In this scam, Natalie and her husband Michael set up a business to sell goods to the US government. They got the idea from the movie “War Dogs.”

Instead of a legit business, Natalie, who ran the operation, decided to launch a Ponzi scheme which defrauded millions from her friends and neighbors, pretending they were investing in the couple’s company.

What did she do right away? Right! She bought fancy homes and cars!

Investigators were on her trail. She killed her husband to cover up the Ponzi scheme and was eventually jailed for wire fraud. Later she was found guilty of her husband’s murder.

What did Jimmy teach us? NEVER BUY ANYTHING.
