YourWelcome Holiday Gains Ground in 37 States

For years, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Hanukkah have enjoyed a high profile among the most popular holidays. People travel for miles just to eat some turkey and stuffing with family and friends from all corners of the compass at Thanksgiving. During Hanukkah and Christmas, gifts and good times are shared.

YourWelcome, which falls on December 26, is a new holiday gaining ground in many states. “We have many holidays where people give thanks for all the good things they have in their lives, but we didn’t have a day that says, ‘your welcome,'” said YourWelcome founder Johann DeNada.

YourWelcome started slowly, appearing first in Maine and several other New England states. In the last five years, it has spread rapidly to the south and midwest, with a few observers starting the new tradition in California and Oregon. “This is a non-denominational holiday that lets gift-givers provide a proper response to someone thanking them. Now you have your own day to show YourWelcome,” DeNada explained.
