3 Things Excellent Employees Won’t Put Up With

If you are a business leader, owner or manager, it is time to face facts. Good employees are hard to find, and excellent ones are rarer still. You’ll never get to where you want to go with a bunch of C players.

But excellent employees are more demanding than ever. They won’t put up with these three things ever again.

Left in the Dark

Sure, you didn’t tell them about the company going out of business until the afternoon of their last pay period, ten minutes before they were supposed to get their weekly paycheck.

I know, I know, you didn’t want to upset them with Christmas coming.

Letting Them Down

Of course you meant it when you said you were going to fight with the home office for raises for everyone.

Gosh darn it, you stood on the table in the big meeting room and yelled, “We are the best in the company! We demand more money! I will not stop until we all get raises!”

It was dramatic, bro. Everyone cheered.

Then you forgot about it. Hey, I don’t blame you. It’s easy to get busy watching the Final Four and then the NBA and NHL playfoffs, so give yourself a break.

Withholding Help

Sure, one of your best managers asked for some help. Yes, she met her quarterly goal for years on end, but why should you help her?

I mean, you don’t even know her. What’s the point. Let her fend for herself. It will be good training.

What’s that? She’s leaving the company and you want dibs on her leather Aeron chair? Good thinking.
