Cars and Traffic

3 Things Making Me Want To Choke Google Maps

Google Maps today announced an update they said would go “beyond directions,” offering new features to enhance the user experience. Sounds good to me, but I wish they would work these problems first:

Pin in the Alley

Ever driven down a dark alley because Google Maps tells you that is where your destination is? True, sometimes s business or residence IS in an alley or back lane, but usually it means Google Maps has taken a street address and moved it into a back alley where you will subject your car to more potholes than a lunar rover.

Turn Left on Busy Road at Rush Hour

Google Maps is super useful, but it is painful when it directs you to turn left on busy four-lane road at rush hour. Gee, why not send me to an intersection with a traffic light?

Seven Hundred Turns

I know you are trying to help Google Maps, but I’m getting dizzy from the 700 turns you are suggesting on this two mile trip. And do I really need to go on the freeway for one exit?
