3 Ways To Succeed on YouTube

The future of the web is video. The written word has fallen off as visual storytelling takes over the world.

YouTube is the fastest way to make an impact with video. Here are three tips to get started.

Don’t Be Fancy

Just do it. Turn on your camera video app, hit RECORD and post the video. You can worry about the lighting later. Yes, you won’t look Hollywood perfect at all times–just hold the camera as far away as you can from your face so you don’t scare viewers.

Be Consistent

This is critical. Upload at least once a week. Success on YouTube requires consistency. How many channels have you come across where they posted once a day for a month and then were never heard from again? Can’t think of anything to say? Interview your dog.

Talk To Your Audience

This isn’t TV.  Ditch the TV News voice. Talk to your audience members like they are old friends. Don’t open your videos like you are the local TV anchor, breathlessly saying, “WELCOME BACK TO THE CHANNEL! TONIGHT I INTERVIEW MY MOM!”
