Ernie the mastiff goes to New York City
Ernie the mastiff loved his life on the Kansas farm, surrounded by his best friends, two ducks named Cain and Abel and a horse named Willis. Every day, Ernie would call his mother, who lived in New York City, and ask her to come and retire on the farm with him.
“Mom, you should come and retire here on the farm with me,” Ernie would say. “The fresh air and wide open spaces are so much better than the city. Plus, Cain, Abel, and Willis would love to have you here.”
But his mother always had an excuse, saying she wasn’t ready to leave the city and the hustle and bustle of city life behind just yet. “I’m not ready to retire just yet, Ernie,” she would say. “I still have so much I want to do in the city. But I’m glad you’re enjoying life on the farm.”
Ernie was a bit disappointed, but he understood. He loved his mother and wanted her to be happy, even if that meant living far away from him. So he continued to live his life on the farm, enjoying the simple pleasures of the countryside.
One day, his mother called with exciting news – she had bought tickets to see Ernie’s favorite musical, “Wicked,” and she wanted him to come with her. Ernie was overjoyed and immediately jumped on a bus to New York City. He was so excited to see the show and spend time with his mother that he didn’t even mind the long journey.
“I can’t wait to see the show with you, Mom,” Ernie said. “I’ve been looking forward to it for so long.”
But disaster struck when the bus broke down in Akron, Ohio. Ernie was stranded, unsure of how he was going to make it to the city in time for the show. He didn’t want to miss it, not after how much he had been looking forward to it.
“What are we going to do, Cain?” Ernie asked his duck friend. “We can’t miss the show!”
Cain looked around and spotted a helicopter at the nearby airport. “I have an idea, Ernie,” he said. “We can steal that helicopter and fly to the city. It’s our only chance to make it in time for the show.”
Ernie didn’t hesitate. He grabbed Cain and Abel and together, they stole the helicopter and flew towards the city. They landed on the heliport of the Trump Tower, but were quickly arrested.
But Ernie wasn’t ready to give up yet. He pulled Cain and Abel out of his pocket and held onto their feet as they flapped their wings, allowing the three of them to fly to the ground and avoid capture.
They ran from the police, trying to blend in with the crowd, and found themselves standing in line for the show. It was then that they realized Ernie’s mother was standing right in front of them. They all hugged, tears flowing down their cheeks, and headed into the theater.
Inside, they were completely enthralled by the show. It was the most amazing experience of their lives and they were grateful to be there together.
In the end, they were overjoyed that they had made it to the show and vowed to never again be apart. Ernie’s mother decided to retire on the farm with him, and the four of them – Ernie, his mother, Cain, Abel, and Willis – lived happily ever after, enjoying the simple pleasures of the countryside together.
They spent their days exploring the fields and forests, taking long rides on Willis, and enjoying each other’s company. And every night, they would sit out on the porch and look up at the starry sky, grateful for the love and friendship they shared.
“I’m so glad I finally listened to you, Ernie,” his mother said one evening. “Retiring on the farm was the best decision I ever made. I love being surrounded by nature and spending time with you and your friends. It’s just what I needed in my retirement.”
Ernie smiled and leaned his head on his mother’s lap. “I love you, Mom,” he said. “And I’m glad you’re here with me. This is where you belong.”
