How Chipsville, Texas saved the world

We need chips. The world is experiencing a shortage of computer chips. It is affecting everything. New car prices are soaring. Some truck dealers are getting $30-40,000 OVER list price!

“Well, just crank up the factories!” you say with gusto, holding your iPhone aloft, marching around the back yard.

Sadly, friend, it’s not that simple. Most of the silicon computer chips in the world are produced by ONE manufacturer in Taiwan.

Well, podner, I have the answer. We mosey down to Texas Instruments and say, “Listen here, boys, we got ourselves a problem. We need you to crank up chip production about 3 million fold.”

Texas Instruments is a Dallas-based company. And Texas has lots of room. I mean lots. West Texas has more room than the surface of Mars.

We incentivize Texas Instruments to build a new mega-plant for chips in West Texas. We can even start a whole new town around it. We’ll call it Chipsville, Texas.

And we start making our own damn chips!

Now this is an infrastructure bill I can get behind.
