How the Vanderbilt fight song changed over the years

Vanderbilt is a premier research university chock full of smart students in every branch of the sciences. As the university’s population of egghead students grew, the school fight song incorporated more themes related to their studies. Here is the current version of “Go, go Vandy!” the Vanderbilt fight song:

Verse 1:

Oh Vandy, we calculate, your football’s second-rate,

But in the lab, we dominate, let’s integrate, integrate, integrate!

From quantum leaps to Newton’s laws, we’ve got no time for your applause,

We’re coding in Python, just because!

Chorus:

Go, go, Vandy nerds, assemble!

From the astral plane to coding in Assembly!

Raise your slide rules high, let those protons fly!

Oh Vandy, to pi we’re eternally nigh!

Verse 2:

With algorithms and equations, we’re solving life’s foundations,

No need for sports affiliations, we’ve got scientific citations!

From Turing tests to DNA, in labs and lectures we will stay,

While you fight for yards, we’ll find a way!

Chorus:

Go, go, Vandy nerds, assemble!

From the astral plane to coding in Assembly!

Raise your slide rules high, let those protons fly!

Oh Vandy, to pi we’re eternally nigh!

Bridge:

Euler’s phi and Fermat’s Last, in history’s academic cast,

We’ve hacked the Matrix, and had a blast!

E=mc^2, that’s our score,

While you’re down by 3, we’ve found ten more!

Chorus:

Go, go, Vandy nerds, assemble!

From the astral plane to coding in Assembly!

Raise your slide rules high, let those protons fly!

Oh Vandy, to pi we’re eternally nigh!

Outro:

In LaTeX we will write our cheers, we’ve got no room for sportsman’s jeers,

With cosmic strings and logic tiers,

Vandy Nerds, we’re quantum pioneers!
