Is it Hotter Than 20 Years Ago?
I was talking with a 23-year-old yesterday. We agreed it feels like summers are way hotter now than 20 years ago. It will be 108 degrees today in Los Angeles. She doesn’t remember it ever getting above 92 or so when she was a kid growing up in the Compton area.
Global warming? Climate change? Whatever. To cope with today’s heat, I am going to remove my skin and walk around with my innards showing. That way any cool air can circulate right through my organs, bones, and sinewey muscle. The only thing messing up this plan is excessive stomach fat. I might cover that up with a towel.
As Innards Man, I will have other advantages, too. Doctors appointments will be shorter as the doc can see clearly what is ailing me. “No need to run any tests today, Joe,” he’ll say. “Clearly you have gastritis.”
