Shocking finding high in the Andes. “They speak English.”
An amazing thing happened recently high in the Andes Mountains. Adverturer/scientists found a strain of unicorns that can speak different languages including fluent English.
There are a few things that can make a human feel small, like a tiny insect in a vast, empty space. One of those is the feeling of being cut off from the rest of humanity. Being isolated from the rest of the world can also cause people to do bizarre things, like go berserk or write a really weird book. When Dr. Brian Hare found himself stranded in the Chilean Andes Mountains, he made an odd choice to keep himself from feeling left out of the social circle – he decided to go searching for a herd of living, breathing unicorns.
Dr. Hare, an American primatologist with expertise in the evolution of human communication, had planned to stay in the mountains for a month to study some of the unique orchids and amphibians that are found there. However, as luck would have it, the volcano erupted – which was not a good thing for his research. Hare decided that he would take this opportunity to explore the region’s mountains to see if there was anything interesting to study.
The journey to the Andes, which is not accessible by road, took three weeks. During the journey, Hare met a number of locals, including an old man and a man who said that he had been in the mountains for nearly 100 years. The old man told Hare that he had seen unicorns in the area, and that there were a few of them that were still wandering around the region.
But one day, after Hare and his guide reached a plateau that they decided to cross, they found an injured woman who told them that there was a herd of unicorns that lived in the mountains. The guide asked the woman where the unicorns were, and she pointed to the mountains in the distance, which turned out to be the location of the herd of unicorns. The guide called the unicorns “horses,” but Hare thought that they resembled unicorns more closely than horses.
After a number of expeditions to the area, Hare was able to capture a number of the animals, most of which were able to communicate to him thanks to the locals. The unicorns were very tame and curious, and the villagers told Hare that they were not a threat to the villagers. However, the unicorns were not friendly to all humans, as when Hare showed up, they would try to hide. The unicorns also would not allow any man to approach them. But if a woman came to their pen with food, they would follow her around like a lost dog, which gave Hare the idea that they may recognize their owners.
“Come here, honey,” one of the women said to the members of the herd. “Y’all need to eat some food or the stripes will fade on your body.”
However, some unicorns that Hare kept as pets did not know how to speak, much to his dismay. One of the unicorns’ main food sources was the local villagers’ goats, which it would chase down and pull away. The unicorns were able to understand the commands of Hare’s guides, as they yelled, “Get up here, you Uni, or no dinner for you!”
“No need to yell,” the unicorn said. “I can hear you just fine.”
