The Hot and Cold of It

I was rinsing shampoo out of my hair. The little hair that I have.

So little it should be simple.

But I complicate it by using two methods.

First, I stand with my back to the water stream and tilt my head back and rinse.

Then I turn around and lean my head in and rinse it from that direction.

I don’t know why.

The only problem is it easy to lose your balance when standing in the rush of water. You don’t have any reference points.

Yesterday, when I was facing the water stream, I leaned my elbow against one of the faucets to steady the process.

It didn’t take long before my elbow bumped the hot water up.

“Yeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”

In a panic from the scalding water, I reached out with my other hand and turned it down.

“Yeoooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhh!”

The cold water came rushing in like a million buckets of ice being dumped in roiling volcano.

I was awake after that.
