The Mule – Movie Review
“The Mule” is an animated Disney film featuring the voices of Clint Eastwood as The Mule, Amy Sedaris, Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Kevin Pollack, and another actress named Amy.
The Mule is lonely. He is new in town, doesn’t have any friends, and spends his time playing Dungeons and Mules in the dark basement of his parent’s home. You might say he is borderline depressive, but he just hasn’t found his crew yet. Sometimes when you are new, it takes time to get into a groove with a new circle of friends.
The trouble is he never had to find friends. The Mule was king of the castle, cock of the walk in the old neighborhood. Nobody made a move without his approval. He ran those streets like Rihanna said.
But now he doesn’t know what to do. Should he talk to the kids on the block? What if they reject him? What if they are “not cool?” Can he be seen with them?
Eventually, he finds his way when bumps into Vinny the Donkey at a pep rally. Vinny reminds the Mule of his old self, a cocksure leader that people respect. Vinny wakes up the Mule’s inner alpha mule, and together they rule the hallways of the high school for the next three years. I can’t tell you what happens to Vinny during senior year, but it tests The Mule’s loyalty. In the end, he learns what friendship is really all about.
