UGLYDOLLS Preview – What to Expect (crazy) [NEW] [NO SPOILERS]

The new UglyDolls movie opens later this week. Let’s find out what it is all about.

First, a little backstory. The movie is based on a line of plush toys released into the world in 2001 called of course UglyDolls. It won the Toy Industry Association’s 2006 award for Specialty Toy of the Year.

In May of 2011, they announced the movie was in the works. So why is the movie coming out in 2019, EIGHT full years later?

Because, well, Hollywood!

It’s not unusual for movies to take a LOONNNG time to come out from the time they are announced, especially animated films.

Heck, the Lego Movie took four years due to script rewrites and the intricate animation. Every brick was animated.

Can you imagine every brick in in your house being animated. Every time you came home, they would make comments like, “Coming in a little late aren’t we?” or “Don’t you have school tomorrow?”

Sleeping Beauty took eight years to make, largely because they filmed a live action version with real actors so the animators had something to work from to create characters.

Also because Sleeping Beauty was asleep for 100 years. They could barely wake her up to make the movie. She yawned and said, “Wait, what, you want to make a movie about me? Right now? I just woke up! Let me get my coffee at least!”

So who are the UglyDolls? Well, you have Babo, Ice Bat, Target, Wedgehead, OX, Jeero, Cinko, Wage and Tray.

Good looking dolls who who tried out for the movie but didn’t make the cut include Dropdead Gorgeous, GoldenTan, PearlyWhites, SmoothSkin, TallKid, TeamCaptain, FunnyDude, and HeadCheerleader.

UglyDolls that didn’t make the cut include SmellyFart, Baldie, PotBelly and LongToeNail. Rumor has it these dolls are going to make their own movie called “Revenge of the Rejected UglyDolls.”

Nerds! Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!

UglyDolls is an animated musical with big musical stars including Kelly Clarkson as Moxy, Nick Jonas as Lou, the perfect doll and UglyDolls nemesis, and Pitbull as Ugly Dog. Other musicians lending their voices include Gabriel Iglesias and Blake Shelton.

Pitbull wanted to change his character to Ugly Dog Worldwide, but that idea was rejected.

Blake Shelton wanted to produce a special episode of the Voice starring several of the UglyDolls, but the idea was rejected by Adam Levine.

Levine was pitching a similar project with Avengers Endgame characters including the Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor and the Hulk.

Hulk sings, “Yeah, I’m gonna take my horse to the old anger road, I’m going to rage till I can’t no more.”

So, what is the plot of UglyDolls? Do they want to star their own RollerDerby team? Start a K-Pop Band with hits like, “Ugly Me, Uglier you?” or “Ugly is In the Eye of the Mirror?”

The UglyDolls head out from their town of Uglyville to discover another town called Perfection, also known as Ottumwa, Iowa.

Everyone is perfect in Perfection. Perfect teeth, perfect hair, and they all drive Teslas with license plates with LED readouts that show their current net worth in real time.

They run into Nick Jonas who is the most perfect of the perfect people in Perfection. He has a special team of four to six teeth whitening professionals who respray his teeth gleeming white after every meal.

At the end of the day, the UglyDolls learn important lessons about being yourself and reveling in your own individuality. Heck, some of the most successful people on the planet are let’s say, a little unique and maybe a little crazy: Charlie Sheen said he was a warlock with tiger blood running through his veins. Kanye has had more colorful outbursts than a fourth of July fireworks show and Mike Tyson once bit another boxer’s ear off. They are all rich.

See, UglyDolls, just be your strange, crazy self and the world is yours.
