Why The Washington Capitals Won the 2018 Stanley Cup

Congratulations to the Washington Capitals for winning the 2018 Stanley Cup. Here are three reasons they were able to pull it off.

Bringing a Winner to Olympia

The Capitals wanted a great record this year because they will probably be moving. Several important people in the hockey and entertainment worlds are trying to bring an NHL team to Seattle. Rumor is they are eyeing the Washington Capitals, because why start with an expansion team when they can get an already proven winner. The problem is the Caps have a clause that says they must keep the name if they ever move. Therefore, the only city that makes sense in the state of Washington is the capital city: Olympia. Look for the Olympia Capitals to start play in 2020.

President Trump Tweeting

President Trump boosted the Washington Capitals effectiveness because they expected he might be playing goalie for them. This came after Trump tweeted several days in a row a variation of: “I will be playing goalie for the Capitals to make sure we bring the Cup to Washington. I am a great goalie. The best.”

Braden Holtby’s Beard

If goalie Braden Holtby was too sick to play, the team would go with Philipp Grubauer or, in dire straits, Braden Holtby’s beard. Holtby’s beard is so think and strong, the Caps strapped the pads to it and put it in the net in 5 playoff games this year. With an amazing .921 save percentage, Holtby’s beard has picked up a sports agent and can be seen appearing in commercials for local car dealers and “We Buy Your Gold” stores.
