Holidays

You got me brake pads? You shouldn’t have!

It was the week before Christmas and the guys at Joe’s Car Repair were busy as usual, fixing cars and trying to get them ready for their owners to drive home for the holidays.

One of the workers, Tom, had been going through a tough time. He had recently lost his family in a bad divorce and had been forced to move into the shop to save money.

Despite the tough circumstances, Tom was determined to keep a positive attitude and do his best at work. He threw himself into his job, fixing cars and doing whatever was needed to help the business run smoothly.

But his coworkers noticed that Tom wasn’t quite himself these days. He was always quiet and seemed a bit down. So they decided to do something to cheer him up.

Without Tom knowing, they decorated the tree outside his window with colorful lights and shiny ornaments. They wanted him to have a little bit of cheer when he looked outside and saw the tree.

On Christmas Eve, Tom’s boss, Joe, called him into his office. Tom thought he was in trouble, but when he walked into the office, he was surprised to see the tree outside the window, all lit up and beautiful.

Joe smiled at him and handed him a small wrapped present. Tom opened it and was confused to find used brake pads inside.

“What’s this for?” Tom asked, puzzled.

Joe and the other workers laughed. “Look under the brake pads,” Joe said.

Tom did as he was told and was shocked to find a hidden envelope with $1,000 cash inside.

“Merry Christmas, Tom,” Joe said, smiling. “We know things have been tough for you lately, but we wanted to let you know that you’re not alone. We’re here for you, and we’re glad you’re part of our team.”

Tears welled up in Tom’s eyes as he realized the kindness and generosity of his coworkers. It was a simple gesture, but it meant the world to him.

As the guys continued to work on cars that day, they all felt the warmth and joy of the holiday season. And Tom was grateful for the support and friendship of his coworkers, who had made his Christmas a little brighter with their thoughtful gift. Then they all watched the Golden Girls Christmas special before going home.
