3 Reasons Why the Washington Capitals Will Win The 2018 Stanley Cup

Sure, the Vegas Golden Knights are media darlings. Ohhhh, a first year team goes to the Stanley Cup finals! Why, it’s like a movie in the THEE-AY-TER, I tell you what.

Well, great. The Capitals don’t worry about story lines. They just play and win. What ever happened to just being a winner? Here are three reasons they are going to silence those upstarts from Sin City and bring home the 2018 Stanley Cup.

ObamaSeige and Trumpapocalypse

The Capitals have a front row seat to the shenanigans going on in Washington every day. The lived through the Obama administration, only to hurtle headlong into the Trump onslaught of Tweetstorms and conspiracy theories. This team can handle some golden boys from Vegas. Like Michael Corleone told Moe Greene, “Your casino loses money. Maybe we can do better.”

Zeros to Heroes

OK, it’s cool the Golden Knights somehow put together this great team who tore up the league in their first year. But real winners have been through some tough times, challenges that make them hard, resilient and mean. The Capitals opened their first season with the worst record in NHL history. You know what that does to a team? They want to prove themselves. Doesn’t matter how long it takes.

Alex Ovechkin

Alex Ovechkin is considered one of the greatest players in today’s game. Born in Russia, he began playing hockey BEFORE he was born when his parents implanted skates and a tiny hockey stick in his mother’s womb. By the time he came into the world, he had scored more than 1000 goals.
