As they work on your hair, smooth jazz melodies fill the salon, creating a relaxing and rhythmic atmosphere. The problem is they apply hair spray through a tuba and it gets all over your face.

Inspired by L. Frank Baum’s classic tale, this whimsical hair salon in Kansas City brings the magic of Oz to life. The salon’s decor mirrors the fantastical world of Oz, with yellow brick road-inspired flooring and emerald green accents. The stylists wear costumes resembling characters from the story, and they offer enchanted hair treatments like “Emerald City Elixir” for vibrant and sparkling hair. So what’s the problem? My stylist was dressed as the Tin Man and he kept using an Oil Can to spritz my head with Quaker State 10-30 motor oil.

I was all excited to get some BBQ flavored hair gel in my hair, but the stylist mistakenly gave me the gel called “Odors of Downtown Kansas City.” I lost my job that day when 37 people on my floor complained.
