Meet the “Coffee Badger” — a term coined by Owl Labs in June 2023 for those hybrid workers who badge into the office just long enough to grab a coffee (and maybe say hi), then head back to their home setup to work more comfortably and productively. It grew as a silent protest to RTO directives that gained steam in 2024 and 2025.

A couple weeks ago a local major bank called everyone back to the office. Employees told me there were fights in the parking lot because there were not enough spaces. Once inside, there were more fights over desks because many had been stored away due to so many working remote.

That would make me want to coffee badge on the first day back lol.
