Today is National Day Day

Secret vampires search the darkness

12-21 – Today is National Maine Day AND National Flashlight Day

Known for its lobsters, lighthouses, and a coastline that’s more jagged than my Aunt Edna’s lemon bars, Maine is celebrated today. But why today, of all days? Is it because the sun sets at approximately 2:30 PM in the Pine Tree State during winter, making it the perfect day to also celebrate flashlights? Or is it because Mainers are secretly vampires who thrive in eternal darkness and need an entire day to remind them what the sun looks like?
