The floor is lava

Some motivational speakers make you walk over hot coals barefoot to get you to increase confidence, trust your gut and reach for higher goals.

I do something similar. We all pile into helicopters and fly to the top of a volcano where we walk down and across the flowing lava. I call it “The Floor is Lava” experience.

Ken L. Turpentine, a recent graduate, describes his experience: “As we approached the volcano, I couldn’t help but feel an intense rush of adrenaline course through my body. It was as if every nerve in my body was on high alert, ready to take on whatever challenge was thrown my way. The helicopter descended slowly, and we could see the bright red and orange lava flowing beneath us.

“As we stepped out of the helicopter, the heat hit us like a wave. It was intense and almost unbearable, but it was nothing compared to what we were about to experience. We made our way down the side of the volcano, each step bringing us closer to the fiery inferno.

“I could feel my heart racing in my chest as we approached the lava flow. The heat was incredible, and I could feel beads of sweat dripping down my face. But despite my fear, I knew that I had to keep moving forward.

“As we walked across the lava flow, I felt a sense of liberation that I had never experienced before. It was like everything else in the world ceased to exist, and all that mattered was the moment. The crackling sound of the lava beneath my feet was both terrifying and exhilarating, and I could feel myself being consumed by a primal sense of power.

“I looked around at my fellow travelers, all of us with a look of pure determination on our faces. We had come here to conquer our fears, to prove to ourselves that we were capable of anything. And in this moment, nothing seemed impossible.

“But as we neared the end of the lava flow, I could feel my feet starting to burn. The heat was becoming too much to bear, and I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make it much further. It was then that I saw her.

“A woman, standing at the end of the lava flow, beckoning us forward with a smile on her face. She was beautiful, with long flowing hair and piercing green eyes that seemed to look into my soul. And in that moment, I knew that she was the reason we had come here. She was our motivation, our inspiration, the reason we were willing to risk everything to walk across the fiery lava.

“I pushed through the pain, my feet screaming in agony as I made my way towards her. And as I reached her, she took my hand and led me away from the lava flow, towards a small cave hidden in the shadows of the volcano.

“As we entered the cave, I could feel a cool breeze wash over me, and the pain in my feet started to subside. The woman turned to me and smiled, her hand still clasped in mine, and I felt an electric current pass between us.

“‘Welcome,’ she said. ‘You have proven yourself today. You have faced your fears and emerged victorious. You are worthy.’

“‘Worthy for what?’

“‘Worthy to join our Elite Program where we play lava volleyball. You’ll play standard volleyball at the bottom of the volcano, spiking real lava rocks back and forth. The winning team gets free Aloe Vera to soothe skin burns for one year. Interested?’

“‘Yehaw, I’m in!'”

There you go folks. Join Ken L. Turpentine and all the other motivated folks in my program as we head out to the volcano and take our lives to the next level.
