You guys better settle or I’m going to send Jimmy Page into the next county

In 1969, Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love” from their first album played over and over on AM radio. (Yes, AM!) The band was still relatively unknown in the spring of that year, but by the time Led Zeppelin II came out in October, they were well on the way to becoming the biggest band in the land.

“Whole Lotta Love” was “inspired” by Willie Dixon’s “You Need Love.” You can hear the obvious similarity, so similar Willie sued, won and is now listed as a co-writer. As you know, it wasn’t the last time Zeppelin would be accused of ripping other artist’s songs. It’s a good thing the band settled with Willie – he was a big dude and a champion boxer.
