Submissions Are Open!
The Women in Comedy Festival (WICF) is now accepting submissions through January 6. Submissions may be in the categories Stand Up or Storytelling Stand Up (one sustained story), Improv Comedy, Live Sketch Comedy (may contain some video or multimedia in show), Musical Comedy (scripted or unscripted), and Workshop Instruction.
Some of this year’s headliners include Wendy Leibman, Judy Gold, Cameron Esposito, Jackie Kashian and Erin Jackson. The festival takes place May 8 – 11 in Boston and Cambridge (both in Massachusetts).
WICF is open to all comedians of all genders. International comedians are welcome to apply, but WICF is not able to pay for travel.
Since its inception, the Women In Comedy Festival has hosted thousands of artists from all over country, including Maria Bamford, Horatio Sanz, Kristen Schaal, Rachel Dratch, Wendy Liebman, Carol Leifer, Jackie Kashian, Morgan Murphy, Jill Talley, Jen Kirkman, and Edie McClurg. This year’s festival will be held atImprov Asylum, Laugh Boston, Comedy Studio, Club Passim and more venues in the Boston area.
“Our mission is to create a forum for people to experience the comedic expression of women, see strong female performers and, most importantly, to entertain”, says festival co-producer Maria Ciampa. “We want to close the gender gap in comedy,” continues co-producer Michelle Barbera.
