3 Tips for Getting the Best Service From Your Car Repair Shop

Frustrated trying to get straight answers and halfway decent service from the people fixing your car? I hear you. Try these three strategies to improve your results at the local garage.

Two More Hours

When they tell you it will take two more hours than expected, say, “That’s OK, that gives me time to work on my personal laser machine. I’m trying to perfect the “Baloney detected – Vaporize Source” setting.

We Have To Order The Part

When they tell you they must a order a part they should have ordered when they made the appointment, say, “OR, you could set up a machine shop here in the garage so you can make the part by hand. Because that’s going to be faster that ordering it.”

Can’t Locate Your Work Order

“Hi, I talked to the other guy yesterday and he started a work order or job or whatever you call it,” you say to an employee you’ve never seen before.

“Really? I can’t find it. Who did you talk to?” they respond.

“He was a heavyset guy, with glasses and beard. Like one of those hipster beards.”

“I can’t think of anyone like that,” he says without looking up.

“That’s OK,” you say. “He might have been a passer by who jumped on your computer out of boredom. He might not even have worked here. Yeah, that’s probably what happened. Some random customer got bored, accessed your computer, figured out how to start a work order, pull up my customer details, enter in the work needed and then didn’t save all that. What the heck, let’s start all over. I wasn’t going to do anything else today.”
