3 tips to make your high school hockey team

Trying to make your high school hockey team so you can be a big star in the hallways of the school on game day? Try these tips.

1. Get better from your last year

This means work with a personal trainer, shoot more pucks, and do a little bit of strength training. We’ve heard stories of great players who went from terrible to fantastic in a year. The only problem here is you won’t be able to go to classes – you won’t have time! So budget the money necessary funds to pay a young-looking college student to sit in your classes and take your tests.

2. Talk to the coaches

You can’t play for your high school without being offered a spot on a team. Talk to the head hockey coach, the equipment manager, and other students on the team. They’ll know the most about team rules and what you need to do to make the team. Heck, talk to the coaches wife. Nobody knows how to push somebody’s buttons than their spouse. Talk to the coach’s significant other and find out how to manipulate them.

3. Do well in tryouts

Tryouts are the first step in trying out for a high school team. The coaches usually take each student who shows up to a tryout with the best interests in mind, so you’ll need to have a good showing. You may run into a problem if you were out late with the boys last night trying to sneak in those adult educational film theaters downtown. In that case, you may have to change your career focus from hockey to film acting. Hello, Hollywood!
