Football Coach Encourages Players To Donate To Athletic Department Fundraising Fund That Helps Pay Coaches

Recently, the football coach at University of Louisiana-Lafayette encouraged scholarship players to donate $50 to an athletic department fundraising fund that, among other things, helps pay coaches.

The story caught the attention of the national press and sparked discussions at cash strapped universities around the country. “Brilliant,” said football coach Theodore Doitrightthistime at the University of Big Cliffs in Idaho. “I’m borrowing this idea. I’ve asked our top players to drive me to work every morning due to bad knees I acquired during my playing days.”

“I love the concept,” agreed Billy Squireismyname, head football coach at Syracuse School for the Gridiron Arts, “It allows players to give back to the school that has given them a great opportunity to get ahead in life. I’ve given my starters the honor of mowing my lawn every Sunday. It’s not required, but we all know what that means.”

Over at Destin School of Aerial Stunts, football coach Ivan Fiveandtenski lauded the program in Lafayette. “Them boys over there to Lafayette are always thinking out of the box,” he said. “I asked my players to help build my new house on the outskirts of Destin. If they don’t show up to swing a hammer, they sit on the bench. It’s simple. That’s the deal and that’s that.”
