A few years ago, a promoter in Phoenix had a Nickelback protest before a Nickelback show because they felt the band represented society sliding into a “Walmart haze.” The event included a candleight vigil and an appeal to older citizens to teach children what real music is all about and steer them from the popular Canadian band.

But then the band protested the protest. “Yeah, dude, funny you organized this protest and all, but the band voted to protest your protest. Let the people decide, dude. Some people play ‘Photograph’ at their wedding, bro!” a band rep said.
