Peter Malnati works the angles at the 2021 Sony Open

After a blistering 62 that gave him a share of the lead in the first round of the Sony Open at the Waialae County Club in Hawaii this week, Peter Malnati was asked if this was one of the last courses that allow a player that relies on finesse and shotmaking to win over a power player as the game tends to favor power more each year.

He said, “Listen, I can win anywhere. It just depends on the course. All these golf analysts talk about are ‘angles.’ Have they ever been on a golf course? Angles are important when you are building a house. Angles are important when you are laying brick. Angles are important if you are betting on the horses at Pimlico or Churchhill downs. There are no angles in golf. You know what there is? Talent. That’s what wins golf tournaments. Talent. The angle I loved was Kurt Angle when he used his signature Ankle Lock and Angle Slam to win not one, not two, not three but FOUR WWE Championships. That’s the angle that I think about – Kurt Angle! One of the best WWE wrestlers to climb inside the ropes!”
