Russia demands de-certification of “Miracle on Ice” victory at 1980 Winter Olympics

Interesting: The Russian hockey team is demanding the International Olympic Committee decertify the US-Russian hockey match played on February 22, 1980 at the Winter Olympics in Lake Placid.

Popularly known as the “Miracle on Ice,” the victory featured a lovable rag tag group of American players besting a squad of Russian puck sharpshooters.

When asked why they wanted the change, a Russian spokesperson said, “Мы выиграли игру, и история спроса отражает наш выдающийся хоккейный талант.”

Loosely translated it means, “Because I said so.”
