Security tackles golfer on the 18th green after victory

Nick Taylor is the first Canadian to win the Canadian Open in 69 years. And he won the 2023 edition against Tommy Fleetwood on the fourth playoff hole, the 18th, with a 72-foot putt for EAGLE!

You can bet every maple-syrup-blooded Canadian at Oakdale G&CC was excited! Including fellow golfer Adam Hadwin, who rushed out with a bottle of champagne.

That’s when Hadwin was gang-tackled by security. All of a sudden the security team thought they were Packers giving Elway “The Helicopter” spin in the 1998 Super Bowl.

They brought him down hard and kept yelling “stop resisting” as they pummelled him. OK, I made that part up.

Once it was determined Hadwin was just another chicken-legged golf pro with a champagne bottle, the party continued. Congrats Nick Taylor – it was a beaut!
