What if you are just selectively dumb?

In my college psychology class I had a new professor who tried to implement all the “latest” teaching methods to increase student engagement.

Fire example: On the very first day, she began class by saying loudly, “Everyone in here who thinks they are dumb, I’d like you to rise and stand proudly!”

I stood up immediately and looked around. No one else was standing.

She looked at me and said, “Do you really think you are dumb, Joe?”

“No, but it broke my heart to see you standing all alone.”
