5 of the Most Unusual Talents of Miss Texas Contestants

Since 1937, dozens of young women have chased the Miss Texas crown. A few of them have displayed rather unusual acts for the talent competition.

In 1941, Suzanne Mygownispinching sang Texas-themed “lonely cowboy” songs such as “I’d Trade This Saddle For a Warm Hug” while riding a unicycle.

Marianne Kowalskiolinsky wowed the crowd in 1953 by roller skating onstage while juggling 15 Whataburgers and 3 chocolate shakes.

In 1969, Sandra Panhandle dressed up as a cyclone while singing the monster Beatles hit, “No Matter How the Wind Blows, I Will Spin Circles For You.”

Ricky Lee Hill Country sent her 1982 audience into a frenzy when she rolled on the stage in a covered wagon wearing boots that had stitching that said, “I grew up in the Hill Country and the hill country grew up in me.” She then gave a speech about coming of age in a log cabin, learning things like how to take a bath in a wash tub while her ten brothers and sisters turned their heads to the radio.

In 2004, Cindy Alvarez performed a selection from her senior thesis: “100 Years of Big Texas Hair: The Flip and Curl Story.”
