My Uncle the Motorcycle – Worst TV Shows of All Time

“My Mother the Car,” an NBC sitcom that ran for only one season beginning in 1965, was hated by everyone: audiences, critics and cars alike. It appears regularly on lists of the worst TV shows of all time including TV Land, Rotten Tomatoes and many others.

That’s why it was surprising when CBS announced “My Uncle, the Motorcycle” (1966) shortly after the debut of “My Mother.”

“Networks copy everything that looks like it might turn into a thing,” explained a TV industry insider. “CBS greenlighted this motorcycle trash because they didn’t want to get left behind if ‘My Mother’ took off.”

Starring Clint Eastwood as Maverick Barrel, “My Uncle the Motorcycle” followed his adventures hot-biking around Denver, all the while getting love advice from his talking motorcycle. “Start dating older women,” the motorcycle would say. “They are much more appreciative of a good bottle of wine and someone that knows how to fix a broken faucet.”

Clint mostly just laughed at these diatribes as this was before his image of a tough-talking tall guy with a big gun. “What do you know about it?” Clint chuckled as they blew threw yet another red light.

As you can see, there isn’t much to say about this mess and it was quickly cancelled for another short-lived TV show starring Julie Andrews as a New York City nun who drives a cab.
