Special birthday shoutout to Geena Davis. I first met Geena in 1994 shortly after I arrived in LA in 1991. She and I were cast in a 1994 sequel to “A League of Their Own” (1992) called “There’s No Crying in Baking Doughnuts,” the story of a broke young couple trying to make a go of their Dun King Doughnut franchise in Brooklyn. This picture was shot just after we wrapped a scene where I foil a robbery by telling the guy dumb jokes. Things like “What do you call a 4-foot psychic that got away with robbery? A small medium at large!” I laugh hysterically which makes the guy so angry he gets distracted and I nail him with a doughnut pan right in the neck. He takes off swearing while holding his main artery so he doesn’t bleed to death.
